Biography

Juho Tuomikoski was a Finnish long-distance runner who specialised in the marathon. At the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics the marathon was contested over a course measuring 42.75 km, the longest in Olympic history, and before the distance was standardized at 42.195 km the following year. Tuomikoski ran in the marathon in Antwerpen where he finished fifth. He later moved to the United States where he was a member of the Finnish-American Athletic Club in New York.
