Biography

Kalle Tuominen was a Finnish long-distance runner who specialised in the 3,000 metres steeplechase. Tuominen ran in the race at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he won silver, finishing only three seconds behind compatriot Volmari Iso-Hollo. Two years later he just missed out on a medal at the 1938 European Championships in Paris when he finished fourth. Tuominen finished on the podium on nine occasions at the national championships, with him taking gold in 1937.
