French racewalker Jacques Arnoux won multiple national titles in both the 20 km and 50 km events, including setting a national record in the latter. Arnoux won his first national title in 1960 when he became the French champion in the 50 km walk, before retaining his title the following year. He won it again in 1963 and 1964, with his final national title in the distance coming in 1966. Arnoux also became the French champion in the 20 km walk in both 1970 and 1971. His international début came in 1960 when he was selected to represent France at the Roma Olympics, where he finished 28th in the 50 km event. Arnoux remained a mainstay on the French national team, competing for more than a decade and taking part in his final international competition in 1972.
