Born in Algeria in 1901 Seghir Beddari later represented Red Star Paris where he specialised as a long-distance runner. In 1927 Beddari became the French champion in the 10,000 metres and the cross-country race, with his performances earning him a place on the French Olympic team. At the 1928 Amsterdam Games he ran in both the 5,000 and 10,000 metres, finishing 16th in the latter. The following year he won another French cross-country title.
