Biography

Jacques Vernier was a distance runner who competed at the 1948 Olympics in the 5,000 metres. Vernier was French champion at that distance in 1948, defeating Alain Mimoun in a French record 14:35.8. In 1949 Vernier again broke that record, recording 14:20.6 in Göteborg, Sweden. He competed at the 1950 European Championships, dropping out in the final, and ran in the 1949 International Cross-Country Championships, finishing 33rd. During his career he ran variously for CA Français, UA Grenoble, Grenoble OU, and Grenbole UC.

Personal Best: 5000 – 14:20.6 (1949).
