Biography

Sprinter Anni Biechl won the silver medal with the German sprint relay at the 1960 Rome Olympics within the mixed German team together with Martha Langbein, Brunhilde Hendrix and Jutta Heine. She took part in the 1958 European Championships and won the 1959 and 1960 German 100 metre national title, as well as the 1959 indoor 70 metres. Biechl was awarded the 1982 DLV-silver pin, the 1990 DLV-gold pin, and 1960 the “Silberne Lorbeerblatt“ (Silver bay leaf). She was married to Waldemar Capeller (1927-2021) who also received the 1986 DLV-silver pin for his work as vice president of the Bavarian Track & Field Association from 1985-91.
