Biography

Con Purser did not take up football until the age of 13, but quickly demonstrated his talents. He spent the entirety of his senior domestic career, 1949 through 1961, with North Perth, winning the first division championship in 1952, 1955, and 1956. Internationally, he became the first West Australian to be selected for the Olympics when he was called up for the 1956 Melbourne Games, although he was only a reserve and did not see any playing time. He did, however, earn one senior international cap in 1955, and he represented Western Australian in national tournaments 18 times. He later turned to coaching and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame – Western Australia in 1996.
