Henning Svensson played his entire career from 1909-24 as a defender for IFK Göteborg. With his club he won the Swedish cup championships in 1910 and 1918. During 17 seasons with IFK he played 367 first-team games and became a club legend. In 1926, he was awarded the “Stor Grabb” badge in football. Between 1912 and 1923 Svensson represented Sweden in 20 international games, all of them friendlies. He was an unused reserve of the Swedish team at both the 1912 and 1920 Olympic Games.
After his active career he coached IFK Göteborg for three periods: 1924-29, 1931-32, and in 1943. Only in 1932/33 he coached another club, Falkenbergs FF. His younger brother Gillis Urban Svensson played three seasons in IFK’s first team in the 1930s.
Svensson had two sons with his wife Anna Elvira (née Sol).
