Xie Jinhong played as left back. With the South China team, he won Hong Kong’s Division A championship in 1940. In 1948, he joined the Tung Hwa team in Shanghai and went on to win the Shanghai league’s championship. Thus, he was considered a player from Shanghai when the Chinese team for the 1948 London Olympics was selected. On their respective tour, he played 29 out of 42 matches. After the Olympics he returned to Hong Kong to join the South China team again. Later, he was wearing the colors of Sing Tao and Kitchee. For many years, he played as left back for the Hong Kong Chinese United team. His brother Xie Jinhe became a famous winger in Hong Kong.
