Biography

Ye Qingrong, better known as Yeap Cheng Eng, was a left winger from the Malayan Overseas Chinese team, who - as a strong shooter – was also able to take the position of center forward. In the 1940s and 1950s, he played regularly for the Malayan Chinese teams. As captain of the Penang team, Ye led them to win the MalaysiaCup in 1953, 1954 and 1958. During the tour of the Chinese team for the 1948 London Olympics, he was fielded in 17 of 42 games played. He also played basketball, volleyball, table-tennis and badminton. Ye Qingrong died after a stroke.
