Biography

Konrad Dobler took part in the Olympic marathons 1992 (49th) and 1996 (48th). He had excellent marathon results at the World Championships 1991 (10th), 1993 (6th), and 1995 (14th), and also at the European Championships 1990 (8th) and 1994 (14th). He took part in the International Cross-Country Championships in 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1988 and the European Cross-Country Championships in 1995. He was German champion in the marathon in 1995 and in cross-country in 1987.

As a policeman he won eight German Police Championships over several distances. In 1990 Dobler won the Frankfurt Marathon, finishing second in that race in 1992, and was also runner-up in 1996 at the Hannover Marathon. In 2007 at the age of 50 he took part in the New York City Marathon as an amateur runner. After his active career Dobler turned to politics, gave up his job as a policeman and in 2002 became the mayor of his hometown of Langerringen near Augsburg.
