Biography

Middle-distance runner Axel Harries was eliminated in the heats of the 800 metres at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. He placed fifth at the European Indoors in 1985 and 1986, and one year later was eliminated in the second round. In 1984 he was West German champion, also winning the German Indoor title in 1985 and 1989, with a runner-up in 1987.

Haries was educated in engineering management and took a manager position with Daimler AG. There he was responsible for the product segment of off-road vehicles, and his main focus was directed to the development and production support of Mercedes-Benz G-Class vehicles.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:45.80 (1985).
