Biography

Pole vaulter Volker Ohl came in sixth at the 1972 München Olympics, the same as he would at the 1974 European Indoors. In 1970 and 1973 he was West German champion, also winning indoors in 1974. In his youth Ohl was an artistic cycler. He later turned to inline skating and in 2002 was Hessian champion in the marathon distance in the M50 senior class. His son Thorsten was also a pole vaulter.

Personal Best: PV – 5.31 (1972).
