Biography

German hammer thrower Christoph Sahner qualified for the final at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics but had no valid mark. Four years later in Seoul he did not reach the final. At the World Championships Sahner came in 11th in 1983 and an unfortunate 4th in 1987. He placed eighth at the 1986 Europeans and was eliminated in the qualifying in 1982. In 1985 and 1986 Sahner was West German Champion, also winning the weight throw in 1987, 1990 and 1997.

His brothers Willi and Manfred and his nephew Andreas Sahner also became nationally successful hammer throwers. Christoph Sahner was educated as a mine mechanic, but later became regional hammer coach for the Saarland.

Personal Best: HT – 81.78 (1988).
