Biography

Dezső Wein started his sporting carrier as a gymnast for BBTE Budapest, and won the major competition of the Hungarian Gymnastic Association in 1894. At the 1896 Olympics he competed in four disciplines (horse vault, pommelled horse, horizontal bar, parallel bars). In addition to gymnastics, he was an enthusiastic hiker and later, as a chairman of the BBTE, played a major role introducing ski-sport in Hungary. After his sporting career, Wein graduated as a medical doctor at the Budapest Medical School in 1897, and then worked as an insurance and private doctor.
