Biography

In 1956 Jootje Gozal was the Indonesian record holder for the 100 metres, which earned him a place on the Olympic team for the Melbourne Games. In a tight heat Gozal finished fifth when he ran 10.9 seconds, tying with two other athletes. Four years later he returned to the Olympics to run in the 100 metres at the Roma Games. This time he narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals when he finished fourth in his heat with only the top three athletes progressing.
