Biography

Giorgio Croci was among the best Italian sprinters at the beginning of World War I. Coming from gymnastics, he had come to light at the end of 1912, and then improved in 1913, setting the Italian record for 100 metres (11.0) in Milano on 20 September, repeating the same time a month later in Genova.

Rather inconsistent in results and with his career blocked by the war, Croci managed to participate at the 1920 Olympics in the 100 and 4x100 relay where, however, he failed to survive the heats in both races. Croci managed to win his only national title in 1921 in the 100 metres on the Virtus Bologna track.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.8 (1918).
