Biography

Antonio Gaetano was a racewalker who competed for the Italian national team from 1958 to 1967. The brightest moment of his career was his participation at the 1960 Olympics in the 50 km, where he finished 10th overall. He never won an Italian title because in those years the national champion was Abdon Pamich, with his 13 victories in the 20 km and 14 in the 50 km. Gaetano’s son Giuseppe was an Olympian at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
