Biography

Gianni Ronconi broke the 14 second barrier in the 110 metres hurdles for the first time in 1976 and brought his personal best down to 13.6 (bettered by only two Italians: Eddy Ottoz and Giuseppe Buttari) in Torino on 2 June 1976.

Coached by the former hurdler Tito Righi, Ronconi began his activity in 1968 and, at only 20 years of age, he joined the national team. At the 1976 Montréal Games he was eliminated in the semifinal. In 1980 he won the Italian title in Torino. Between 1973-82, he earned 16 international caps.

Personal Best: 110H – 13.6 (1976).
