Biography

Taka Shibata was a Japanese sprinter. Shibata competed in the 100 metres at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. She finished in last place in her heat and did not advance to the semi-finals. At the age of 15 years, 8 months and 4 days, Shibata is the youngest track and field athlete to represent Japan at the Olympics through 2022. Shibata was also scheduled to run in the 4 × 100 metres relay but she was not selected as one of the four athletes to compete in the event. The following year Shibata became the national champion in the 200 metres. After her athletics career, Shibata worked as an elementary school teacher.
