Biography

Kazumi Watanabe was a Japanese long-distance runner. In 1960, he won the Beppu-Ōita Marathon, and later that year was selected to compete in the marathon at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Four years later he ran in the 10,000 metres at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. After his athletics career, Watanabe became the manager for the Fukuoka Prefecture team, and in 2001, he became the president of the Kyushu Athletics Association. For his work in physical education, he was awarded with the West Japan Sports Award in 2006.
