Biography

In 1960 at Roma, Kamar-ud-din bin Maidin, became the first athlete from his province of Terengganu to represent Malaysia in the Olympics. Kamar-ud-din was the first Malaysian athlete to win five consecutive SEAP Games gold medals and two triple jump gold medals, beginning in 1959. His wife was Rajemah Sheikh Ahmad, who was also an athlete, having won a bronze medal at the 1966 Asian Games in the 4×100. Kamar-ud-din had groomed numerous athletes at the state and national level as a coach.
