Biography

André Vandekerkhove, better known mononymously by his ring name “Androt”, won the Belgian amateur flyweight and bantamweight boxing titles in 1919, and was the champion in flyweight once again in 1920. Born in the Netherlands, he was one of four boxers from Bruxelles (Brussels) selected to compete at the 1920 Olympic Games held in Antwerpen. There, he was one of two Belgians that competed in the flyweight tournament, alongside Jef Charpentier of Antwerpen, and lost his only match in a decision to Pete Zivic of the United States. Androt began competing as a professional shortly after the Olympics, garnering a record of 11 wins (5 by KO), 16 losses, and 6 draws in a career spanning five years.
