Biography

Sheila Hudson was a horizontal jumper, best known for her prowess as a triple jumper, although she placed in the top six five times in the long jump at the US Nationals. Hudson won seven US titles in the triple jump, in 1987, 1989-90, 1992, 1994-95, and 1998. She also won five indoor titles. During her career Hudson set seven American records, and two world records in the triple jump, although the event was in its embryonic era for women.

Sheila Hudson graduated from U Cal Berkeley in 1990 with a degree in architecture. She won the NCAA title in the triple jump three times, in 1987-88 and 1990. She was also second in the long jump in 1987 and won that event in 1990, doubling in both horizontal jumps. In 1990 she doubled in both jumps at the NCAA Indoors.

Hudson-Struthwick later went into coaching, serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater from 1992-94. She then became an assistant at Cal State LA, before moving into administration as an athletic director at CSLA. She also earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Cal State LA.
