Biography

Leslie Maxie ran the 400 hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, but failed to get past the first round. Maxie was runner-up in the US Championships in 1984 and 1988, and placed second at the 1988 US Olympic Trials. Her major international accomplishment came in winning gold in the 400 hurdles at the 1984 Pan American Junior Championships. Maxie attended the University of Southern California where she was second in the 400 hurdles in 1987, and helped the Trojans win the 4x400 relay that year.

Maxie entered broadcast journalism. She worked for Fox, CBS, Oxygen Media, and NBC, and was an early hire for the ESPN show “Cold Pizza,” although she later ended up free-lancing for that network and for ABC and the MSG Network. In 2009, Maxie joined NASCAR as Manager of Communications for East Regional Media Outreach. She covered the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA All-Star Games, the Tour de France, and championship boxing and tennis events during her broadcasting career.
