Claude Allen competed for Syracuse University and the Irish-American AC. He was AAU Indoor Champion in the pole vault in 1907, and outdoors finished second in both 1907 and 1908 in the AAU vault. After college Allen became a basketball coach, coaching the Niagara University team in 1909-10, and in 1910-11 coached St. John’s University to a 14-0 record, with the team often declared the retroactive national champion for that year.
