Biography

Dick Bruggeman was the 400 hurdle champion at the 1972 AAU meet. He placed second that year in the Olympic Trials, but failed to get to the final of the Olympic intermediates. He competed for Ohio State, but never placed in the NCAAs. He also finished fifth in the 1970 AAU 400 hurdles. Bruggeman was the 1968 Big 10 Champion in the 400 hurdles. His Olympic appearance was hampered by a muscle injury and he did not get past the first round. Bruggeman continued running through 1976, but retired after not making the 1976 US Olympic team. He later became a successful real estate broker in central Ohio.

Personal Bests: 440y – 46.8 (1970); 400H – 48.6 (1972).
