Biography

Paul Geis ran the 5,000 metres at the 1976 Olympics, finishing 12th in the final. He won the NCAA 5K in 1974 for the University of Oregon, after transferring there from Rice University. Geis placed third at the 1976 US Olympic Trials, and was also third that year at the AAU Meet. His other AAU placements in the 5K were fourth in 1973, fifth in 1977, and seventh in 1972. In 1974 he was world ranked #10 in the 5K.

Geis later earned an MBA from Stanford in 1978. He became a CPA in Eugene, Oregon, working with Coopers & Lybrand, which later became Price Waterhouse Coopers. In 2003 he moved back to his home in Texas, where he became a financial advisor for UBS.

Personal Bests: Mile – 3:58.0 (1973); 2 miles – 8:21.8 (1976); 5000 – 13:23.38 (1974); 10000 – 28:06.62 (1980).
