Biography

Len Hilton won the AAU mile in 1973 and 1975 and the indoor 3 miles in 1972. He was also sixth in the 1974 AAU mile, and fifth in the 1971 3-mile. At the NCAAs he was third in the 1971 3 miles. Hilton was the first Texas athlete to break the 4-minute barrier in the mile, which he eventually accomplished 32 times. Hilton was also the anchor of the University of Houston relay team that set a world record in the indoor distance medley relay in 1970.

Hilton graduated from Houston in 1971 with a degree in engineering. He later worked as a vice-president of operations with Kinder Morgan Energy and Enron Corporation. Hilton died from pancreatic cancer.
