The 1936 Olympic decathlon proved to be a repeat of the 1936 AAU championships with Glenn Morris, Bob Clark, and Jack Parker filling the first three places, in that order, at both meets. Parker, from Sacramento Junior College, had set a career best with 7,290 at the AAU meet, but approached that with 7,275 at Berlin.
