Biography

Steve Savage competed mainly as a steeplechaser, first for the University of Oregon and then for the Oregon TC. At the AAUs, he was third in 1970-71 and second in the steeple in 1972. At the NCAAs he was runner-up in 1969 and 1971. He retired from competition shortly after the München Olympics. Savage went into sales, working in that field for many years before retiring.

Personal Bests: 1,500 – 3:45.0 (1972); Mile – 3:59.2 (1970); Steeplechase – 8:29.6 (1971); 2 miles – 8:44.0i (1972); 5K – 14:03.8 (1972).
