Biography

Kay Maguire competed for Pacific High School and later for the Headlight Athletic Club. She was one of three sisters (Anna and Irene) who competed in the early days of track & field competition for women. With the Maguire sisters, Pacific High School was undefeated in girls’ track meets for five years. Kay Maguire was AAU Champion in the high jump in 1926-27. She later became an elementary school teacher. After marrying, she and her husband had one child, who died as an infant. They then served as foster parents to 13 children waiting for adoption.

Personal Best: HJ – 5-0¼ [1.53] (1927).
