Biography

Austrian track & field athlete Josef Wittmann qualified for the 1906 Intercalated Athens Olympics when he won the Greek style discus throw (27.32 m), and finished second in both the conventional discus throw, and stone throw (11.30 m) at the Austrian selection competition held in Vienna (WAC field) on 8 April 1906. He then participated in shot put, stone throw and Greek style discus throw at the Olympics with unknown results. He was also a member of the Austrian tug-of-war team that finished fourth, and last, after defeats by Germany (2-0) and Sweden (2-0).
