Biography

Chantal Bailey skated at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. She was originally from Champaign, Illinois, where she was inspired by townswoman Bonnie Blair, but did not take up speedskating until moving to Boulder, Colorado, where she was studying for a sports medicine degree. She made the US national team in 1990, won the US all-around title in 1992 and 1993, and was US champion in the 3,000 in 1994. After marrying, Bailey settled with her family in Bemidji, Minnesota, where she became the coach for the Bemidji Pioneer Speedskating Club.

Personal Bests: 500 – 41.02 (1998); 1000 – 1:20.90 (1998); 1500 – 2:06.19 (1998); 3000 – 4:30.84 (1993); 5000 – 7:49.74 (1993).
