Biography

Doris de Agostini was a pure speed skier who competed at the 1976 and 1980 Winter Olympics, only in the downhill both times. It was almost the only event she ever skied, with her best international performance coming in winning the bronze medal in downhill at the 1978 World Championships.

On the World Cup circuit, de Agostini won eight races, all downhills, from 1976-83. She had 19 World Cup podiums in downhill, and in the 1982/83 season de Agostini won the crystal globe as downhill World Cup Champion, after finishing second in the 1980/81 and 1981/82 seasons. She was named 1983 Swiss Sportswoman of the Year.
