Biography

In 1960 Barbara Ferries won the US Junior title in both downhill and combined, and that year won the Andrea Mead Lawrence National Junior Skier of the Year award. In 1961 she moved up to the senior ranks, winning the Roche Cup downhill and giant slalom, and the Harriman Cup. In 1962 Ferries won a bronze medal in the downhill at the World Championships. She continued to compete in masters’ races for many years, and in 1978 was inducted into the US Ski Hall of Fame.
