Biography

Maya Hug won six consecutive Swiss national figure skating titles after World War II in the women’s singles, from 1945 through 1950, which remained a record until Sarah Meier won her seventh of eight in 2008. She has less success at her three international appearances, which began in 1947 at the European Championships, where she placed eighth. Her next stop was the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics, where she was 15th in a field of 25 competitors. She performed slightly better at the World Championships the following week, where she was 14th. She retired from active competition shortly after winning her final national championship title.
