Éva Saáry and her sister Mária demonstrated their skating talent in their childhood. At the age of ten they had the opportunity to attend the ice school of the great figure skater of the 1930s, the Olympic champion Karl Schäfer, in Vienna. Between 1932 and 1948, Éva competed for ВKE, between 1948 and 1950 for MÉMOSZ SE, and between 1950 and 1952 for Bp. VM.
In 1940, at the age of 14, she finished third in the Hungarian championship. Between 1941 and 1944 she finished in second place behind Györgyi Botond on all four occasions. World War II did not interrupt her career either. The siblings and their parents first moved to Sopron and then, with the help of Schäfer, they survived the war in Austria.
Between 1947 and 1949, she also finished second in the championship four times in a row, this time finishing behind her sister. She managed to win the Hungarian championship three times, in 1946, 1951 and 1952. She was the member of the Hungarian national team between 1946 and 1951. In 1947 she won a gold medal at the World College Winter Championships in Davos. In 1948, she finished 21st at the St. Moritz Olympics and 14th at the European Championships in Praha. In 1949 she finished third at the World College Championships in Splinderuv Mlyn.
In 1947 she married the Olympic speed skater Gedeon Ladányi. Between 1948 and 1965, they had eight children, so there was little time left for elite sports. In 1958 she was a solo dancer of the Hungarian Icerevue for a short time. In addition, she coached for 37 years and taught figure skating at College of Physical Education. Several of her students won national championship titles. Two of her children, Gábor Ladányi and Attila Ladányi, played for the Hungarian national ice-hockey team.
