Biography

Erik Ågren came from a boxing family. His three brothers were all boxers: Carl won a European pro title, Oscar and Ture were both Swedish champions. Oscar also finished third in the 1937 European Championships welterweight and 1939 European Championships middleweight. Erik was Sweden’s best amateur boxer between 1936 and 1941. He won four national titles, took an Olympic bronze medal, and lost the final of the 1939 European Championships in the welterweight division. In the 1937 European Championships lightweight he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. He remained faithful to his Narva club in various functions, including coach.
