Biography

Erna Steuri was a Swiss Alpine skier who was active during the second half of the 1930s. Steuri was the downhill and combined champion at the 1935 SDS races, which were organised by the Swiss Women’s Ski Club. The following year she finished fourth in the combined event at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics, followed by fifth in the slalom and combined at the Alpine World Ski Championships a week later. She continued to have consistent results at the World Championships with several top-ten finishes, including winning bronze in the slalom in 1938 in Engelberg. Steuri became the Swiss champion in the downhill, slalom, and combined in 1939, and the downhill champion in 1940.
