Biography

Antonio McDyess was a power forward who helped the USA win gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. McDyess played in college at the University of Alabama, where he was a second-team All-American in 1993, leaving after his sophomore season to enter the NBA Draft. He was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round, with the second overall pick, of the 1995 NBA Draft. McDyess never played for the Clippers as he was traded to the Denver Nuggets and played with them from 1995-97 and 1999-2002.

McDyess had a 16-year NBA career, also playing with the Phoenix Suns from 1997-98 and 2004, the New York Knicks in 2002-04, and the Detroit Pistons from 2004-09, and ending his career with two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. He ended his professional career with averages of 12.0 points per game, and 7.5 rebounds per game. He was an NBA All-Star in 2001, was named to the NBA All-Rookie first team in 1996 and was chosen for the All-NBA third team in 1999.
