Biography

Paula Wiesinger was the first woman superstar of Italian skiing. She won 15 Italian Alpine skiing titles from 1931-36 and her finest moment came at the 1932 World Championships at Cortina d’Ampezzo, where she won the downhill title, and was also sixth in the Combined. After competing in the 1933 and 1934 World Championships at Innsbruck and St. Moritz respectively, she participated in the Olympic Winter Games 1936 at Garmisch (the first Games with Alpine skiing), where she was 16th in the Alpine Combined, the only Alpine competition that year.
