Finnish ice hockey player Seppo Ahokainen played in 434 games in the SM-liiga, the top professional league in the country, scoring 366 points. Ahokainen began his domestic career with Ilves in 1971, playing with the club until 1977. He was named the rookie of the year in 1972, the same year that Ilves won the Finnish championship. He also captained the team during the 1975–76 season. Ahokainen then moved to the Austria to play for Klagenfurter AC, playing in 103 matches and winning two Austrian championships. He returned to Finland to end his playing career with Tappara, winning four more Finnish championships (1982, 1984, 1986–87). Ahokainen also played in more than 160 matches for the Finland national ice hockey team, including seven editions of the World Championships, and the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics, playing in six games at the latter. He was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.
