Biography

Ice hockey goalie Bernd Englbrecht played with EV Landshut (1975-86 and 1987-93) and briefly with SC Riessersee (1986-87) in the West German Bundesliga, before he moved to EHC Essen-West and Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the lower second league. Finally, he played with TSV Erding from 1995-2000. In 1983, he won the West German Championship with Landshut.

Internationally, Englbrecht earned 83 caps with the West German national team and competed at three World Championships and two Winter Olympics (1980 and 1984). He then turned to coaching with lesser success in the lower divisions. In 2011, he was inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.
