Biography

Alpine skier Pepi Erben finished 47th in the giant slalom at the 1952 Winter Games at Oslo. In the downhill he crashed 200 metres from the finish line, broke his leg and had to be transported by helicopter to an Oslo hospital. Erben won several regional championships in Germany and became a double Student World Champion at Sarajevo in 1955. He was appointed as a coach in Iceland and Morocco by the German Skiing Association. He later became one of the pioneers in helicopter skiing and founded a company organising helicopter skiing events and trips.
