In the 1920s Luigi Faure was one of the best ski jumpers in Italy and won multiple medals at the national championships. Faure won his first Italian championships in 1924 with victory in the ski jump and the Nordic combined, in addition to finishing second in the 18 km cross-country race. The same year he was selected to compete at the Chamonix Olympics where he finished 17th in the large hill event. After the Olympics he repeated his double in the ski jump and the Nordic combined at the Italian championships, winning gold in both events in 1925 and 1926. Faure continued to have success in the Nordic combined, winning the national title for three consecutive years from 1927 to 1929.
