Biography

Born as the heir to the Fischbacher family business in fabrics, Christian Fischbacher had enough time and money to spend on rich men’s pursuits like art collecting and skeleton racing. But Christian Fischbacher was also succesful in business, founding his own fabric company in New York, where he had emigrated in the 1930s. He later took to running a dairy farm before returning to Switzerland as the head of his family’s company. He would later be named honorary member of the Cresta club in St. Moritz (where the 1928 and 1948 Olympic skeleton competitions were held) and much of his art collection may still be seen in the Segantini Museum in the same town.
