Biography

Gaston Furrer began his ice hockey career with EHC Visp in 1962 before joining HC La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1968. Furrer eventually returned to EHC in 1976 where he stayed until 1980. In 1964 he was called up to the Swiss national team to compete at the Olympics in Innsbruck when he was only 18-years-old. His international career spanned the best part of a decade, with him playing in 146 games, in addition to returning to the Olympics for the 1972 Sapporo Games. His son Philippe was also a talented ice hockey player who competed at the Olympics in Vancouver (2010) and PyeongChang (2018).
