Biography

Austrian ice hockey centre Fritz Ganster participated at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. The team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, he won 37 international caps, scoring three goals and seven assists. Domestically, Ganster played with EV Zeltweg (1980-82), EHC Lustenau (1982-83), and VEU Feldkirch (1984-2003). With Feldkirch he won eight national titles, and the European Hockey League in 1998.

Ganster worked with his brother Peter in the butchery business owned by his father in Zeltweg, and still played second division hockey at the same time. After his retirement in 2003, he worked as a school caretaker. Ganster also later played seniors tennis.
