Biography

Romallis Ellis was US lightweight champion in 1988, and then went to Seoul, where he won a bronze medal in the lightweight division. He turned professional shortly after the 1988 Olympics, fighting mostly as a light-middleweight. Ellis fought for the IBF light-middleweight title in 1997, but lost to Raúl Márquez by TKO in the fourth round. Ellis fought professionally through 2001, ending with a career record of 24 wins (with 17 KOs), 4 losses, and 1 draw. After his boxing career was over Ellis later taught at the Ramsey Student Center in Georgia and was a boxing instructor at the Athens Arena.
